COPPA STATEMENT

SUMMARY OF STATION COMPLIANCE WITH COPPA:

In April of 2000, the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act went into effect and this new law governs information gathered from website visitors who are under the age of 13 ("Minors"). This section discusses our compliance with this law, and how we collect information from Minors and how we verify that a Minor is indeed allowed to make use of our Site and participate in the services and features we offer. This new law requires that website operators provide parents and other supervising adults with a reliable way to assure that no website collects and uses information from their children, or those who are in their care, without our first securing the appropriate consent. While it is this station's present policy to not collect information from minors subject to COPPA, we support this law and present the following to advance understanding of it. WHAT COPPA REQUIRES THAT WE DO:

The new law provides that no information can be submitted to or posted at a website by a Minor without the express consent of their parent or guardian. Unless otherwise disclosed at our site, we do not provide or disclose any personally identifying information about Minors, regardless of how we collected it. When we do allow Minors to submit information, or participate in our contests, children programs and other features we require that the Minor‰Ûªs parent or legal guardian have notice of this and provide express approval to the online activities. We do this by requiring that whenever a Minor registers for a feature or service, we also obtain the e-mail address of the Minor‰Ûªs parent or legal guardian. We send an e-mail to the parent or guardian advising them that the Minor has visited the site and the notice provides a summary of the service or feature for which the Minor has registered. Unless otherwise indicated in connection with a particular service or feature, information collected from Minors is never used for any marketing or promotional purpose. In those cases where we do collect information from Minors, we only use it for the actual service or feature for which the information was provided.
Please note that Minors may be allowed to participate in some contests and promotions that do not involve online participation.
Finally, we do not include information about Minors in our directories and they do not and will not receive any unsolicited e-mail or other communications from us.
